I completed my diploma in Tool and Die Making in 1984 from NTTF, Peenya, Bengaluru. I came to know about NTTF from my brother-in-law way back in 1980. I appeared for an entrance exam at NTTF Dharwad but got placed in Bengaluru centre for training. The first year of training was very hard, but we were quite focused on learning.

During the training, the quality of instruction and the discipline inculcated were very different from other institutes. We were given enough practical exposure and that gave us a lot of hands-on experience. I worked for about 2 years at NTTF Bengaluru to learn more about the industry. I later moved to Forres Engineering and was a Tools Engineer there for 6 years. In 1995, I joined Molex and was given an opportunity to work as the head of manufacturing. It was a good journey and I spent 12 years there. In 2008, I started my own company and catered to the aerospace, defense and automotive industry.

After coming up with our own concept and design, we supply connector components to companies like Molex, CommScope, Rosenberger, Tyco Electronics and All India Radio. We manufacture Fiber Optic connectors which are very unique and imported from the USA and Switzerland. We also supply components to automotive industries from Japan, and are now working with Heigl Technologies and Bosch.

I believe that the quality of education has to really improve. We are still lagging behind in practical knowledge of certain technologies when compared to other countries. At NTTF, students will be given opportunities to develop their practical skills before finding their own career path.
